Box Pro is expanding…

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Box Pro is expanding in lots of ways! In particular our team and service offering, but also our target audience and industry. Originally Box Pro was setup to provide web design and online marketing specifically within the boxing industry, but as a natural progression we are now offering the same services to our new MMA clients. Later this year we will be re-launching the Box Pro site to reflect these changes as well as having a more accessible portfolio section of our latest work.

Box Pro is now part of Media Pro UK Ltd, which includes SEO Creative. SEO Creative is a Manchester SEO company that specialises in Internet Marketing and SEO, as well as offering a number of other web services such as web design and Flash development. Although this doesn’t affect the services that Box Pro offers, it means we have larger resources available i.e. to a more diverse range of designers, developers and service offerings.

Plans are for the new website to be relaunched in May this year, so watch this space!

Box Pro launches new website

old-box-pro-website

The original Box Pro website (pictured above) was developed entirely in Flash, and was always a temporary website used to provide a sample of our Flash programming capabilities (our core service is boxing website design).

We have now launched a new website, which is more accessible to all types of users and is more search engine friendly. Currently we rank very highly for keywords such as boxing websites (currently number #2 in Google – 9th May 2009) but we are also targeting a number of more specific keywords that would be more difficult with a Flash website. The new site also contains more information about each of the services we offer, which hopefully visitors will find interesting as well as providing examples of our work.

Eventually we will add a portfolio and clients section to the website which we will keep constantly updated. We hope you like it!

Boxers and branding increasing marketability

At Box Pro we’re big believers in self promotion. Boxing is a business and you have to market yourself properly if you want to increase your popularity and get recognised. One of the many things you can do to aid this process is create your own unique “brand” or “identity”. This is something that seems to be slowly catching on, and we have included a few good examples above such as Ricky Hattons new crest logo, the Hayemaker logo and that of Amir Khan.

When done correctly, the aim of this should be to create an instantly recognisable brand that is a reflection of the fighter. Most fighters have an alias which is a perfect starting point, such as “hitman” or “the latin snake” etc. If you have a cool brand association then you become much more accessible to your potential fan base. It also opens up all kinds of other avenues including branded merchandise. I’m unlikely to go out wearing a t-shirt with a photo print of Ricky Hatton on my chest, but I would definitely wear a well designed t-shirt that was branded in his name.

At Box Pro we have a team of designers that can work directly with fighters to create a brand unique to them that directly reflects their personality. The sooner you start creating your identity, the sooner you will start getting recognised.

Pixel art is a retro design style made popular (in our opinion!) through 80’s computer games where designers were limited to editing simple graphics at pixel level due to limitations in the rendering power of the machines, such as the sega master system or Nintendo Entertainment System.

Box Pro recently pitched to create the graphics for a boxing game for a mobile phone using the pixel art style, and although we can’t demo our work we have created some pixel art creations of some our favourite boxers! We’ve included the names, but hopefully you’ll recognise some of them!

Boxing Promotion through Search Engine Optimisation

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Boxers need to raise their profile on the web as well as in the media, when someone Google’s Boxing or a boxers name you want to make sure your website is at the top. At Box Pro we help give boxers websites that will build them as a brand, we can give them a website that competes in the industry and a logo that sets you apart from your competitors.

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the process of getting your website to the top of Google for selected key words or keyphrases, for example if you search for boxing promotional websites on Google.co.uk Box Pro comes up number one (23/09/08), this is because we optimise our site through various techniques abiding by Google web master guidelines.

We take a lot of things into consideration when using Search Engine Optimisation techniques but the most important thing is having a good website that Google will recognise as an authority in the Industry and relevant to the keywords most Searched for.

Amir Khan for example should look into ranking not just for his name ‘Amir Khan’, but for more generic keywords, ideally boxers, this would be very competitve and would take a lot more work. For less work you could look into British Boxers, Bristish Boxers North West and Bolton Boxers. The more competition the harder it is.

SEO is a slow process and takes time and expertise to get it right, there are some methods that can get you banned if done incorrectly.

Box Pro Photoshoot Turns Heads

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

A recent promotional photo shoot turned some heads when we employed the talents of a Nemesis model! The shoot was focused around a boxing ring in the centre of a busy fitness centre in Greater Manchester. A few of the members stopped training as hard to watch us set up the camera equipment, but that was nothing compared to the distraction that followed!

When our Nemesis model came out wearing nothing but high heels, hot pants and a Box Pro t-shirt we had the complete attention of all the men! But we didn’t completely disturb their workout… once the shoot was over I think they were all competing for her attention by training that bit harder than usual! So that’s why the ring card girls are so important at a fight…
